The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Chuchart Phantasawat, Dean of the School of Medicine, with Assistant Professor Tassanee Ongthanasap serving as this project leader.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Strengthening Practical Competence Beyond the Classroom<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This project was designed for second- and third-year students in the Applied Thai Traditional Medicine program, providing hands-on training beyond textbook knowledge. The workshop emphasized the integration of Royal Thai Traditional Massage techniques with multidisciplinary rehabilitation approaches to improve the quality of life of patients recovering from stroke during the intermediate phase\u2014considered the \u201cGolden Period\u201d of physical rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>Over the two-day intensive training, students received both theoretical and practical instruction from a team of expert practitioners from Phunphin Hospital. The lead speaker, Ajarn Thapanee Srilam, Applied Thai Traditional Medicine Practitioner (Professional Level), delivered key lectures, supported by a practical training team: Mr. Paramet Lompat, Ms. Aisawan Polchai, and Mr. Pongsakorn Sawangphon, Thai Traditional Medicine practitioners from the Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Clinic, Phunphin Hospital, Surat Thani Province.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Key Highlights of the Workshop<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Multidisciplinary Integration:<\/strong> Approaches to caring for intermediate stroke patients in collaboration with healthcare professionals in public health facilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hands-on Rehabilitation Techniques:<\/strong> Royal Thai Traditional Massage for patients experiencing dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), facial paralysis, and speech impairment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Herbal Medicine Applications:<\/strong> Appropriate selection of herbal remedies to stimulate recovery and manage complications such as constipation in hemiplegic and paraplegic patients.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Systematic Assessment and Documentation:<\/strong> Training in history taking, physical examination, and structured patient data collection in accordance with healthcare and research standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beyond providing specialized clinical knowledge, this initiative aligns with the School of Medicine\u2019s academic strategic plan to enhance educational quality indicators. Graduates from the program will be well-prepared for professional practice, equipped with competencies that match national healthcare demands. Ultimately, the project contributes to reducing the public health burden and supporting stroke patients in regaining independence and quality of life.
