On January 23, 2025, the Bachelor of Science program in Sport and Exercise Science, within Walailak University’s School of Medicine conducted a field study at the Elderly Club of the Tha Sala Subdistrict Municipality’s Social Welfare Division, located in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. This initiative aimed to assess the needs of club members to inform the development of the first year of the Community Health Promotion Project for the Elderly Club. The field study incorporated elements of the Professional Skills Enhancement Project in Physical Fitness Testing, specifically within the SSE63-223 Physical Fitness Testing and Health Assessment course.
The activities included fitness testing and health assessments, physical fitness enhancement planning, instruction on elastic band resistance training, and promotion of age-appropriate recreational activities. These interventions focused on improving muscular strength, flexibility, and injury prevention among elderly participants, empowering both them and social welfare officers to address community health needs and foster sustainable well-being. The project will be overseen by a team of exercise specialists, sports scientists, and physical therapists.
