The School of Medicine extends its congratulations to Ms. Punyanuch Soontreewong, a third-year medical student, who has been selected as a representative of Thailand to present her abstract art work. Her artwork has been officially shortlisted as one of the Top 8 finalist pieces in the Abstract Art Competition at the East Asian Medical Students’ Conference (EAMSC) 2026, which will be held in Nepal from 15–19 January 2026 under the theme “Mental Health and Wellbeing: Addressing the

Silent Crisis.” Her participation in this conference is supported by the Asian Medical Students’ Association Thailand (AMSA TH). Ms. Punyanuch’s artwork conveys a significant mental health issue “depression arising from pressures imposed by oneself, family, and society, which may lead to feelings of despair. However, the work also reflects the notion that with opportunities for healing and appropriate support, despair can be transformed into the strength to move forward, symbolized as a small light at the end of the tunnel guiding one through the darkness.” The artwork demonstrates her potential, creativity, and profound understanding of mental health issues from both social and humanistic perspectives.

The School of Medicine recognizes Ms. Punyanuch for her dedication and ability to integrate medical knowledge with artistic expression to effectively communicate critical mental health issues. The school remains committed to supporting students’ holistic development, fostering their growth into physicians who possess not only clinical expertise but also deep humanistic understanding and a strong sense of social responsibility.
