Senior Medical Student Shares Valuable Learning Experience Through Elective Program at Toho University, Japan

Mr. Tonpan Wongcharoenwattana, a sixth-year medical student from Walailak University, participated in the Clinical Elective Program at Toho University, Japan, from April 20 to May 1, 2026. The program provided an invaluable opportunity to explore an international healthcare system while enhancing professional skills and gaining a broader global perspective on medicine and healthcare.

 

During the elective program, the student had the opportunity to learn about advanced medical technologies, particularly Robotic Surgery, which represents one of the most significant innovations in modern surgical practice. He also observed the collaborative work of multidisciplinary healthcare teams in Japanese hospitals, where great emphasis is placed on systematic processes, precision, and patient safety at every stage of care.

 

In addition to academic learning and clinical training, the student experienced Japanese culture, lifestyle, and healthcare society through visits to important places and interactions with medical professionals in Japan.

 

Participation in this elective program served as a meaningful experience that contributed to the student’s development in terms of medical knowledge, communication skills, adaptability, and learning within an international environment. Furthermore, the experience inspired further personal and professional growth toward becoming a highly qualified healthcare professional in the future.
