On 22 September 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Phungphong, Lecturer in Medical Sciences, School of Medicine, Walailak University, was honored to be an invited speaker at the 4th International Conference on Medical and Health Sciences (4th ICMHS) under the theme “Preparing for Future Challenges in Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences.”
This event was held in conjunction with the ASEAN Medical Schools Network (ASEAN Research Collaborative Fund – ARCF) under the theme “Leveraging Regional Epidemiological Expertise to Propose Sustainable, Culturally-Appropriate Solutions for the Growing Burden of Noncommunicable Diseases Across ASEAN Nations” and the 25th National Conference on Medical and Health Sciences.
During the conference, Dr. Sukanya delivered a presentation titled “Exercise, Cardiovascular Inflammation, and Mast Cells: From Experimental Models to Emerging Mechanistic Insights,” sharing the latest insights into the role of exercise in modulating cardiovascular inflammation. Her talk highlighted the involvement of mast cells and the NLRP3 inflammasome in pathological cardiac remodeling and diastolic dysfunction.
In addition to her presentation, Dr. Sukanya visited the research centers, laboratories, and the Interactive Gallery for Medical Sciences (SPICES) at the School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. This visit also provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen international research collaboration networks and foster future academic partnerships.
