Walailak University’s Applied Traditional Thai Medicine Students Provide Holistic Care to Thasala Community in Annual Clinical Practice Project

THASALA, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT – From December 26, 2025, to January 24, 2026, the Applied Traditional Thai Medicine (ATTM) program, School of Medicine, Walailak University, organized a comprehensive community health outreach. The initiative, titled “Applied Traditional Thai Medicine Community Clinical Practice Project” involved 33 third-year students providing professional healthcare services to local residents.

Throughout the four-week program, students offered a wide range of services, including diagnostic assessments, Court type Thai royal massage therapy, herbal medicine prescriptions, and holistic health consultations. All activities were conducted under the close supervision of expert faculty members to ensure the highest standards of care.

Now in its third consecutive year, the project serves as a vital bridge between classroom learning and professional practice. It is designed to enhance students’ expertise in history taking, physical examinations, and treatment planning. By integrating Basic Medical Science and Clinical Medical Science with Traditional Thai Medicine, students learn to communicate effectively with patients and provide treatments that are both scientifically sound and culturally appropriate.

The services were hosted at three key locations within the Thasala district:

  1. Tha Khuen Subdistrict Administrative Organization
  2. Tha Sala Subdistrict Administrative Organization
  3. The Senior Quality of Life Development Center and Tha Sala Subdistrict Municipality

The project received exceptional feedback from the local community, achieving a “Excellent” rating in overall satisfaction. Residents praised the students’ professionalism and the accessibility of the treatments provided. The ATTM program extends its sincere gratitude to all partner organizations and the people of Thasala for their continued support and for providing a valuable learning environment for the next generation of Thai medical practitioners.
