March 30th, 2026
On March 17, 2026, the Sport Science and Exercise Program, School of Medicine, Walailak University, continued its mission of social academic service for the third consecutive year. The team visited the Sichon Subdistrict Municipality as part of the “Community Health Promotion Project for the Tha Sala and Sichon Elderly Clubs.”
During this visit, the working group focused on a “door-to-door” approach, specifically targeting elderly residents and bedridden patients. The goal was to monitor health progress and provide specialized guidance based on sports science principles, focusing on three key areas
- Recovery and Strength Building Demonstrating proper exercise and stretching techniques to reduce muscle tension and prevent daily life injuries.
- Strengthening with Equipment Training participants on how to use assistive exercise tools and distributing new “Resistance Bands” to help build muscle mass and improve cardiovascular health.
- Personalized Care Providing tailored health advice for individuals with chronic conditions—such as hypertension, diabetes, and Parkinson’s disease—as well as those in post-surgery recovery, ensuring they can move safely and effectively.
Follow-up assessments revealed that many participants showed significant physical improvement, increased mobility, and better mental morale through the ability to perform daily activities more independently.
This project serves as a prime example of Social Engagement at Walailak University. By integrating teaching and research into sustainable community development, the university continues to improve the quality of life for people of all ages, fostering a stronger and healthier society.
