Dr. Sirinya Sitthirak, a lecturer in the Doctor of Medicine Program, Department of Medical Science, School of Medicine, was invited to serve as a speaker at an international academic webinar organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 20, 2026.
The webinar was organized under the theme “Climate Change and Re-emerging Parasitic Diseases: Diagnostic Challenges in the General Population,” with the aim of promoting knowledge exchange and raising awareness of the impact of climate change on the re-emergence of parasitic diseases, as well as the challenges associated with their diagnosis in the general population. During the event, Dr. Sirinya presented her academic work entitled “Tumor Heterogeneity and Clonal Evolution in Opisthorchis viverrini-associated Cholangiocarcinoma.” Her presentation highlighted the diversity of cancer cell populations and the genetic changes involved in the development of cholangiocarcinoma associated with liver fluke infection. The lecture emphasized the link between parasitic infections and their long-term health consequences, as well as the importance of biomedical research in advancing disease diagnosis and treatment strategies.
In addition to disseminating academic knowledge, this event further strengthened the existing academic collaboration between the two institutions, while providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and the continued development of educational and research partnerships.
